Well, we tried SAKARA, the organic, plant-based & GF meal delivery program for 5 weeks; and we tracked our wellness journey below. SAKARA is known for their clean, ready-to-eat meals, designed to make you look + feel sexy.  Best part - EVERYTHING IS delivered to your door - insert Christmas morning feels upon opening. YOUR MIND, BODY AND SOUL WILL BE READY FOR YOUR NEXT GILDED ADVENTURE.

 

Eating the same food as Victoria's Secret Models isn't easy, because it isn't cheap. But, this year was about self-care & so

treat yourself.

 

We're also always down for a challenge and we wanted to see how long we could last on a plant-based diet. One of the best parts about Sakara is the piece of Palo Santo they place in your first delivery --sourced from mystical trees in South America-- used as an ancient cleansing ritual. Traditionally burned at ceremonies or prior to moving into a new place to cleanse the space energetically. Once you light it, you are essentially marking the beginning of new pathways, habits and creations.  

Besides being vegan food you actually want to eat, another reason we love Sakara: all the detail that goes into every aspect of the program. Each meal container describes the superfood spotlight ingredient and its benefits on the label. This helps to be present and connected to each bite.

favorites this week ≫ strawberry maca shortcake w/ coconut cream, pink poppy seed muffin w/ berry jam, sunshine curry bowl w/ purple coconut rice, black garlic burger w/ smoky bbq drizzle, earth broth w/ farm fixings + beet smash toast. 

◦ if i could REPORT what was in the magicAL bbq sauce i would give full discloSURE - it was the one thing they kept a secret, BUT the special ingredient was for sure carrots ◦

favorites this week ≫ CACAO POWER BREAKFAST BAR AKA DESSERT !! sexiest salad in nyc, sexy cinnamon rolls, cleopatra's cauliflower salad, middle eastern bowl w. preserved lemon hummus, the sakara nicoise, harissa falafel w. cashew tzatziki + ruby hummus, blue moon handroll + mineralizing miso broth.

CAMRYN's two cents 

taste ◦ i loved every one of their savory dressings + Sauces and all the Meals had amazing flavor, there was only  one-or-two meals i didn't LOVE the taste of and sometimes the breakfast waffles etc. were really dense, But there is a great variety of food throughout the week. i licked up every last bite + SOMETIMES EVEN HUMMED TO MYSELF WHILE EATING, especially in the morning. 

HUNGER ◦ the serving sizes are large, i was always full and SatisfieD - especially when drinking the tea they provide

IMPROVEMENTS ◦ INCREASE IN HYDRATION + NUTRITION, MY normally dry SKIN FEELS AMAZING, OVERALL I FEEL WAY BETTER THAN BEFORE STARTING SAKARA, & I'VE LOST 10 LBS FROM SWITCHING TO A MAINLY PLANT-BASED DIET.

PROs ◦  no wasting time in my day to think about what to eat is underrated, they switched from bottled beauty + Detox water to the concentrates which gives you extra to use later on, i'm OBSESSED with how i feel and sakara worries about the rest.

CONs ◦ the copious amount of greens can be  extra hard to eat some days but once you get the concept of eating your water its all in your head, at almost $20 per meal this unfortunately isn't something REALISTIC long-term for many. Its perfect for a detox.

takeaways ◦ 1) i REALIZED even i can eat a mainly plant-based diet AND ENJOY IT 2) I'm more aware of how food affects my body and make different decisions now 3) Sakara is the perfect wellness reset & something i will try to continue once a month.

TASTE ◦ Fresh, organic ingredients and yummy versions of traditional  meals, delicious dressings/ sauces. It’s like for every meal you’re eating at a gourmet restaurant, so fun!

HUNGER ◦ After each Sakara meal I was always left satisfied and full, and felt really energized and good. Throughout the day I was never hungry the meals kept me full for a long time. Although sometimes I couldn't finish the meals because they are so big and full of ingredients.

IMPROVEMENTS ◦ My skin has never been clearer or softer, my energy level has been consistent and improved. I also feel more clear in my head and i’m not craving sweets or animal products AT ALL, which was surprising to me.

PROS ◦  it’s nice to just grab and go when you’re busy. All the nutrients you need you’re getting and you don’t have to think too much about it. The meals are delivered in the middle of the night so you wake up to the freshest meals possible. 

CONS ◦ Getting used to eating SO many greens was hard at first, but now I crave salads / greens because I know how it will make me feel and look. The price tag is high, but I have found it to be worth it because I now know what kinds of foods, ingredients and portions that my body needs to perform at its best.

TAKEAWAYS ◦ This is a great program to get comfortable with the nutrient dense foods that you should be eating and putting in your body. I also drew ideas and recipes that I will be able to recreate at home and make myself.
